How To Achieve A Menswear Inspired Outfit
Now that Labor Day is behind us and the first day of fall is quickly approaching, it’s time to break out some pieces from your fall wardrobe. Some of my favorite fall staples consist of oversized button downs, neutral knits and plaid blazers. Most of these items are quite masculine and menswear inspired. I wanted to share how to achieve a menswear inspired outfit even with the most feminine item I can think of… that being a black tea length slip skirt. The mix of masculine and feminine creates the most stylish outfit in my opinion. Here is how to achieve a menswear inspired outfit even with a skirt.

Collared Knits
A classic collared knit is a simple way to elevate your wardrobe. It gives a touch of masculinity, but still pairs beautifully with a skirt. Finding the right fit matters. Nothing too tight or too cropped. A cashmere collared knit is a staple in my husband’s wardrobe and mine as well.

For a more menswear inspired look, stick to neutral colors, something your boyfriend or husband would wear.
Layering With Blazers
Try layering a blazer over collared knits and vests. An oversized plaid printed blazer is one of my go-to pieces, especially in the fall. Blazers pair nicely with pleated trousers, and for a more relaxed look you can pair them with jeans. However, I love the combination of blazers with skirts and dresses. The touch of masculinity and femininity play well together.

Adding a blazer automatically gives your outfit a masculine touch. Try different styles of blazers. I like a double – breasted blazer that fits on the larger size. If a blazer runs true to size, I always size up. That way I can add chunky knits underneath and not feel too constricted.

Classic Button Downs
For a fast, no fuss masculine touch, throw on a button down collared shirt. The bigger the better. Go oversized and roll up the sleeves. I love a classic white button down, but black and even a pinstripe would work well with the black slip skirt.
For a relaxed look don’t stress if your shirt is freshly ironed or not. You can unbutton the top four buttons and pair it with a lace bralette underneath for a more romantic look suitable for a date night.

Cropped button downs are quite popular these days. You can always try a new trend and go cropped.
Loafers
To complete any menswear inspired outfit, try pairing your outfit with loafers. You can go dark and chunky, or lighter in color similar to mine. Loafers are great because they are comfortable but also give a masculine touch.

I hope this post inspires you to dig through your fall wardrobe and find some masculine pieces to create a menswear inspired outfit. Shop similar pieces that I am wearing below. Collared knit Blazer Button down Loafers
