How To Dress Rich On A Budget

PinShares

This past weekend, my husband, daughter and I dressed up and went out for a family dinner. This is something that we and other families do, especially on a weekend night. However, instead of opting for one of my go-to summer dresses I decided to wear something else. Nothing I wore was exceptionally special or new, but the pieces fit really well and have a classic style to them that never goes out of fashion. The first thing my husband said to me when he saw me finishing getting ready was, “you look expensive”. Now, if you are like me who does most of their shopping at stores like TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Zara and H&M.. hearing that sentence is a great compliment, especially when you know how affordable all the pieces were. This compliment inspired me to share how to dress rich on a budget.

Neutral Color Palette

A neutral color palette is a great place to start when creating a lux looking outfit. Clean and crisp never goes out of style. Cream, beige, browns and black tones are a great starting place when putting an outfit together. Monochromatic outfits tend to look more expensive in my opinion. Sometimes the less colors happening in your outfit can give a sharper, more expensive looking end result.

Keep accessories like shoes, purses and jewelry all within the same color palette. Keeping all neutral tones make the outfit flow together for a chic result.

Finding The Right Fit

Finding the right fit of clothing is what can make or break an outfit. If you love an item on the hanger but not on yourself, don’t buy it. I myself have come across many designer finds that look amazing on the hanger but did nothing for my body type. Opt for what looks good on you and makes you feel good. Too short of a skirt, or too tight of a blouse can make your outfit go from classy to trashy real quick. Opt for clothing that fits not too tight or too short, modesty is the best policy.

Find A Good Dupe

I am all for investing in some special pieces. However, if you keep investing in items you will be broke before you know it. With new trends constantly happening, I suggest finding a good dupe of the latest and greatest. Case example, these Bottega Veneta earrings that are having a major moment. You can see these earrings being worn by some top celebrities like Hailey Bieber. These earrings are beautiful, but I couldn’t justify the $820 price tag for them. Instead I looked on Amazon and found an affordable dupe. Social media is a great place to find recommendations for dupes. It is always good to see and hear about the quality of a dupe. The ones I have are lightweight and cheap enough that if my daughter was to pull on them and one were to drop I would not panic.

Check out some similar items below. Since the pieces I am wearing are from a few seasons past, I shared links below to cute and affordable options.
