How To Host A Successful Brunch

PinShares

Every Easter my Mom hosts a family brunch. I can’t begin to tell you how excited I am to attend these brunches. My mom has become a pro at hosting brunches over the years. I wanted to share some tips I learned from her to help you host a successful brunch.

Some people may prefer to go out to brunch and try new restaurants. I also do this, but I will say there is something special when you host your own brunch. Now, it doesn’t have to be a holiday or special occasion to host a brunch. It could be a weekend gathering or just an excuse to try out some new recipes. Keep reading to learn how you too can host a successful brunch.

Tablescape

Table Scape

It can be a lot of fun to have a theme for a brunch you are planning on hosting. You can incorporate the theme into your tablescape. Adding a tablescape to your table, whether it be a runner or some fresh flowers, creates a mood for you and your guests.

Since this was an Easter brunch, my mom put out some Easter decorations and fresh flowers. You can easily take the bunny decor out and leave it as a spring theme. Having fresh flowers arranged on the table is an easy way to add color and brighten up your tablescape.

Place Settings

I love having special place settings for my guests when I host a brunch. It dresses up the table and can help tie in the theme. My mom chose bunny plates which makes sense since this was an Easter brunch.

Adding a placemat under the plates is a great way to add texture like these woven ones my mom used. Adding cloth napkins with a napkin holder completes the place setting and gives the table a charming look.

Beverages

It never hurts to add some champagne or prosecco to your brunch. Mimosas are a great addition to any brunch food. If you prefer not to have any adult beverages served at your brunch, that is absolutely fine. As an alternative, I recommend having a variety of juices such as orange or grapefruit juice for you and your guests. I also suggest plating some fresh fruit that guests can add into their drinks.

Bring Out The Crystal

Hosting a brunch is an excellent excuse to bring out the crystal or china you own. Adding crystal glasses really dresses up the overall feel of a brunch. Don’t be afraid to get your nicer pieces out instead of having them stored in a cabinet. Having these crystal champagne flutes makes this brunch feel even more elegant.

Variety Of Food

Brunch is typically served during the hours that are in between breakfast and lunch. This is a reason I recommend serving breakfast and lunch food items. Having a variety of food like bagels, quiche and bacon in addition to shrimp cocktail, or a charcuterie board is a great combination of both. Adding some sweet dessert items like these chocolates and crumbcake are a great addition especially when enjoyed with some coffee.

Try A New Recipe

Brunches are a great reason to try a new recipe out. For this brunch I brought one of my favorite recipes over, an overnight french toast bake. This recipe comes from my favorite cookbook, Magnolia Table. This french toast bake is an excellent brunch item and is so delicious.

I made this french toast bake for my family’s last christmas brunch and it was such a hit that everyone requested it again. You never know what recipe becomes a brunch staple until you try some out.
