How To Style One Dress Two Different Ways

What is so great about dresses, (especially little black dresses), is that you can style them multiple different ways for different occasions. Dresses are great to wear all summer long, and by adding different accessories and layers you can take your dress from a casual night out with friends to a formal cocktail event or wedding. Here is how to style one dress two different ways.

Beachy Casual

Summer is the time to have fun with your outfits and be a bit bolder. I love adding seashell accessories and bright pops of color to my outfits during the summertime. For a casual beachy outfit, I paired my black linen dress with a distressed denim jacket. Denim casuals down any outfit. This distressed one helps give my look a beachy vibe.

Accessories

Since the inspiration for my outfit is the beach, I paired my dress with a wicker bag and bright pink heels that have palm trees and puka shells on them. I also went with a fun layered necklace with brightly colored fish and seashell beads. The accessories are very tropical and really pop against the black dress.

Adding a bandana to any bag also gives a beachy feel. My bandana has palm trees and postcards printed on it which really ties the look together.

Formal Affair

For a more formal outfit, I paired the same black dress with a beige linen blazer and nude wrap up heels. Adding a blazer to any outfit really helps elevate your look.

I chose a beige blazer as I like to keep my outfits more on the neutral tone, especially for a more formal gathering. However, you can easily pair a plain black dress with a colored blazer if you would prefer. A baby pink or light blue blazer would also look great. It really is what you feel most comfortable in.

For my accessories, I chose a pearl colored beaded necklace and a fun watermelon printed bucket bag.

I wanted to add something into my outfit that is summery but still dressy, and this beaded clutch is just that. I also wanted to bring in a print to my outfit since my entire look is quite simple.

I can easily style this dress in more than just two different ways. However, I wanted to keep it simple and show that just by switching out layers and accessories, you can take your dress from a casual daytime look to something much more formal for the evening.
